Come on out and join in the fun with our neighbors to the south - The Chesapeake Bay Chapter. We will be visiting two great museums in the Gettysburg area. We will start with, the "Best New Museum" in the country, as voted on by USA TODAY
10Best readers. The museum, Beyond the Battle, tells the remarkable story of ordinary eyewitnesses and their extraordinary experiences before, during, and after the Civil War. Through twelve interactive exhibit galleries packed with rare artifacts, the museum explores the story of Gettysburg like you've never seen or heard it before. Caught in the Crossfire, the museum’s premier exhibit, is an immersive experience that uses cutting-edge technology to place visitors inside a meticulously reconstructed farmhouse during the Battle of Gettysburg. Visitors will see, hear, and feel what it was like for one Gettysburg family to be overrun by invading forces and trapped behind enemy lines. Beyond the Battle Museum is located inside the new home of the Adams County Historical Society at 625 Biglerville Road, less than one mile north of the center of Gettysburg. Our second museum will be a favorite for some members. We will be traveling north of Gettysburg on RT US 15 to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing at 100 Baltimore Rd, York Springs, PA 17372 At the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing, they preserve and interpret the history of American motor racing, specifically in Pennsylvania and surrounding regions. Their mission is to educate and engage visitors about the motorsports experience. There are many race cars and memorabilia throughout the building. You won’t find a Hudson on the floor, but there is a Hornet 308 Twin H engine on display. This is a free event, though a donation is accepted.
SCHEDULE OF EVENT:

We will park our Hudsons together in the Museum's parking lot, and hold an informal meet there while touring the Museum.

Please try to drive your Hudson, even if it may not be in tip-top shape. We will publicize the meet and we hope to attract people who are curious about Hudsons! We're always hopeful of recruiting members to the H-E-T, Pennsylvania Dutch, and Chesapeake Bay Chapter. Event will be held, rain or shine (except for extreme emergencies). If you can't bring your Hudson, at least arrive in a Brand-X and enjoy these museums in the company of your Hudson friends!

Ogallala was the end of the trail for many of the cattle drives coming up from Texas from 1875 until 1885, and has a shady and violent history. It promotes itself as “Nebraska’s Cowboy Capital” and has many museums and artifacts of the times. Our host motel is visible from the Ogallala exit from I-80 and has plenty of automobile and trailer parking along with SWAP meet space and an on-site restaurant. SATURDAY, JUNE 15

AM: Trip to Ash Hollow and Windlass Hill. Caravan will leave hotel parking lot at 9:00 am for the 27-mi drive to Ash Hollow State Park. The cave at the site has sheltered human beings as long as there have been humans on the Great Plains (about 6,000 yr). There is a modern visitors’ center to interpret the area. Windlass Hill is a site at which pioneers lowered their wagons into the Platte River valley. Ruts from wagons still are visible.

PM: Petrified Wood Gallery, 418 E. 1^st St. At 4:00 pm this will be the venue for a recognition and awards ceremony to be followed by the Big Country Business Meeting.

EVENING: At about 6:00 pm we will shift from the Business Meeting to Front Street, just across the street, for the banquet followed by a stage show (family friendly) in the Crystal Palace.
