Talmo Adventure Meet

Talmo, Georgia

The Dixie Chapter is adding a new venue to our event calendar: Historic Talmo, GA, “The Jewel of Jackson County.” It was during Robert Hudson’s Gas Station Tour that we first met Talmo resident Wayne Miller while we were stopped at the vintage Texaco Station. He was admiring our cars and mentioned that he had a small collection up the street. Would we like to come over? Of course, we motored over and were amazed at his collection of vehicles and memorabilia.

The collection is located at Wayne’s “Talmo Ranch.” Cattle raised here are used to supply the Talmo Market Grill, opened by Wayne two years ago. We will meet at the collection at about 10:30 AM to view the vehicles and artifacts Wayne has amassed. We will then adjourn to the Grill for an outstanding lunch and short business meeting. If the stars align properly, arrangements will have been made to view another collection within 10 miles of the Grill. Maps and directions will be distributed at the restaurant.

Directions: From Atlanta, take I-85 N to exit 137, US-129/GA 11. Turn left at the end of the ramp. Travel approximately 5.8 mi to Pond Fork Church Road. Turn right. At the first driveway, turn left (you will see the entrance to Talmo Ranch). Address is 139 Pond Fork Church Road. Proceed up the hill. At the top, you will see the garage, with gas pumps, on the left. Park near the garage. After enjoying the collection, we will caravan to the Talmo Market Grill (approx. 0.8 mi.) at 558 Main St. Travel back down the driveway. Make a right onto Pond Fork Church Road. Make a left at the stop sign onto US-129. Go approx. 0.5 mi. Turn right onto Talmo Trail. Go to the Stop sign (Texaco station on right). Make a right. The Talmo Market Grill is just past the Post Office, on the right. Park near the Grill or around the Texaco station. Phone number: 706-929-5127.

IMPORTANT. If attending, please call host Henry Dabrowski at 770-851-7194 by May 8 so he can provide Wayne with a headcount.
